yay!

well for all those fellow university students, you would know that we today is the end of our fifth week of tertiary education!!!!!! yay!

i cant believe how much shit i have gotten for studying nursing!!! its actually not as bad as everyone thinks! its not until you start studying the topics and talk to nurses and do clinical placements that you see the real backbone of the health care system are all the nurses and no joke they work everywhere in hospitals and in teh community.... i think that everyone is thinking of enrolled nurses who do a 1 year tafe course and can only clean up shit, literally when they are scoffing at those of us doing pre registration nursing and i mean a 3 year degree must have some sort of relevance to the level of knowledge which nurses require and attain in order to perform tasks such as drug calculations, i bet noone realised that doctors just prescribe the drug but it is the nurses who calculate, measure, prepare and administer the drugs!! if you have no knowledge of pharmacy, many doses are based on the patients weight, age, sex, etc...... so i hope that mrs case taught me well enough to not kill anyone!!! eeek.....!

well anyhoo i suppose i am to blame in part for the continuation of the oh nursing is crap attitude considering i am doing a double degree with health sciences which has a bit more respect LOL.... when people ask me what i am studying, i say health sciences and nursing double degree because as soon as people hear nursing they dismiss you as unintelligible...!! we had this discussion in my NURS1404 class which is Preparation for Professional Practice- it appeared that everyone in the class had encountered the "oh ....nursing....thats...good..." especially many of the school leavers who like me, had friends studying more prestigious courses such as law and medicine.... journalism, psychology, behavioural science, biomedical science, science, more law, physiotherapy, economics, medical radiation, blah blah blah

M2006 Commonwealth Games

well a hoyhoy my numerous readers!!!!

as you may or may not have noticed my absence in the past week or so, i was in Melbourino for the Games of the Commonwealth where i was a member of the "Emergency Management Services" or so said my accreditation.... which sure is a fancy dancy way of saying st john first aid LOL man i am so freaking dedicado! lol not....

any well rachel and i caught a plane to Melbourne on Thursday the 16th of March and it was like whoa exciting.... we carried our first aid kits onto the plane(after removing all those scalpels, scissors and surgical drills.... and got really excited when the security bros asked us if we had laptops in our first aid kits which look like laptop bags....then disappointed as we realised that we unfortunately did not have computers but ooodles of bandaids..

anywell so we arrive in Melbytown and there is this n00b in a johnny uniform who was really nice and stuff but the uniform ugh! meh anywell we got driven in a johnny stationwagon to "Urban Camp" and met some people who had been there since 3 days before the games started...

Compulsory State Elections Voting

so today was yet another historic first in my life, like virgininty, it is something you can never get back LOL..... you may have guessed what i am talking about- yes voting!!!!! today i pre-polled which means tha i voted in a state election for the first time and also pre-polled for the first time!!! yay! i am a humble patron of the davenport electorate;

so anyway the candidates were;

Gerry Bowen -Australian Labor Party
Iain Evans - Liberal Party
Toni Howard - Family First Party
Bridgid Medder - Australian Democrats
Adrian Miller - Australian Greens

so understandably it went labor, greens(its a token effort), liberal(better than democrats), democrats(they are better than family first), family first(ew, to quote the Flinders University Labor Leftist CLub- "keep your rosaries off my ovaries!")


as for the upper house, i was at odds if i should put a 1 above the line or number every box below the line so i decided that becuase i wasnt sure of the preferences of Nick Xenophon's No Pokies Independent Party, i would number the 54 boxes... so i did the No Pokies bros first ( yes fi and adam this is ironic due to my forced gambling habit!) and labor, etc etc....then towards the bottom i put the Legalise Marijuana Party, Family First and lastly the heinous One Nation bastards who are kidding themselves if they think they can get elected!

well anyhoo that was the most exciting thing i have done all week i think... i hope all you 18+ exchange students have remembered to do postal votes!!!! every voice counts n'est pas???? and i hope everyone who is 18+ before march 18th is enrolled to vote!!! if not that is crap! oh well
