well leah and i were lucky enough to witness this stabbing and see the guy getting bashed beforehand... hmm.. well it was ANZAC day eve, the 24th at like midnight so i suppose it was actually on ANZAC day, making this such a more heinous attack!!! how disrespectful! so i had just been at the ANZAC Eve Youth Vigil at the North Terrace War Memorial and was meeting up with leah tessa and megan but tessa had gone home and leah and i were saying goodbye to megan who had her car just outside the academy cinemas so we said byebye and i looked over the other side of pultney st and saw what i thought was a woman getting attacked because it sounded like a woman yelling out stop and whatever so i said to leah is that a woman getting attacked and she was like nah its just two drunk guys so we werent too concerned cus they stood up and it kind of looked like they were friends just having a drunken brawl.... soon after these guys in front of us started to call the cops and run after this guy who had just stabbed the guy he was bashing and started to run away but not before going back to bash the poor guy over the head... leah even saw the perpetrators knife in his hand as he fled! eek! so anyway someone yelled out that the guy had been stabbed so we crossed the street, being the compassionate citizens we are... the guy was now collapsing onto his back and when we walked up to him, there was like 6 other people too, we were confronted with a bloody mess, i kid you not there was about 2 litres of blood spilled on the pavement snd this dude covered with it too writhing in pain.... so i jumped in and did some first aid because noone else seemed to have any idea but there was someone already calling the police and he then called an ambulance and blah blah blah so anyway there we are on the sidewalk outside of the post office on pultney street near bead hive and its totally like whoa this is so not happening in adelaide!!!!! but anyway the dude had been stabbed in his arms and abdomen or groin- it was hard to tell and also in his posterior chest which i suspect caused some sort of injury to his lungs or intercostal muscles as he soon developed breathing troubles and i was like please please dont stop breathing as i should mention i had no gloves or anything here! yeah so much for infection control n'est pas??? anywell some other guys came running down from rundle mall saying that 2 other people had been stabbed and we were like holy shit!!!! but we later learnt that it was only one other guy....luckily someone else knew to PER for bleeding...LOL anyway the cops came like 5 minutes later and i was like give me gloves cop lady but she was like wha?? and i was like dude i need gloves its ok im a nurse....ing student.... eheheh anyway so he was also pissing blood out of his head and it was everywhere!! messy but anyhoo the ambos came a couple of minutes later and carted the dude to the RAH which was conveniently located around the corner.... and the cops swiftly taped off the area and all the way up to the malls balls on rundle mall!! so leah and i had to give witness statements to the cops but all i really wanted to do was wash my hands!!! o and i should mention here that we were with two of my other friends, steph (nathans cousin who is only 17 LOL) and poppy and the four of us were planin on going to the foam party at church and were hence wearing skanky hoe clothes, steph had an ultra mini white skirt and revealing top....i had on a short black skirt and knee high school socks and a white shirt and omgies there was a news camera and it was like dude your so nosy but anywell i somehow managed to get that guys blood all over my socks and shoes and yuk!! those sockes were promptly disposed of!!! i hope that guy didnt have any funky diseases!!! :/ .....anywell leah was totally getting chatted up by the cop with blonde hair and he talked to her for an hour!!!!!!!!!!!!! meanwhile there were 6 of us getting questioned and the cops frantically trying to scribble down our statements and i am sure the cop lady wrote down other stuff to what i said and i sillily didnt reread what she wrote..... oh well.....
so anyway that is adelaide for ya! yay feeling safe??.....hmmmm.....
STABBING VICTIM THANKS STRANGER WHO HELPED HIM
The victim of a stabbing in central Adelaide overnight has thanked a passer-by who helped him.
Twenty-two-year-old Adam Campbell was standing near Rundle Mall after a night out with friends, when he was stabbed in the shoulder and neck.
Another man was attacked soon after and is in a critical condition in hospital.
A 27-year-old man from Elizabeth South has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and will face and Adelaide court tomorrow.
Mr Campbell says he might have died had a stranger not come to his aid.
"Blood was just gushing, squirting out all over the place and I just laid down on the ground and this guy, I don't know if he was a lifesaver or something like that, but he ran over and put pressure onto the wound and helped me until the ambulance got there," he said.
"Which is good. I'd like to thank that dude for doing that."
