so ill have to tell y'all about what i do in two of my secret lives..
i quite enjoy spending all night on North Terrace marching around the war memorial..in the rain cold and dark...but its sooo fun
if you have no idea what im talking about its the ANZAC Eve Vigil in which members from various youth organisations..like st.john and guides and scouts and air youth, red berets, surf life savers and salvation army kiddies...we are supposed to be the 'guard' of the memorial this seems a bit strange but it is just us showing our rememberance of those who died in the wars..i like to think of it as the rememberance of those who were forced against their wishes and beliefs to go to war and also the people who were left behind, the young pregnant wives, sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers...
well anyway ANZAC eve is pretty fun, when you are not doing the marcheroo thing around the memorial...i did guides from 6till minuit i had to go to the VIP supper thingo after the gov's adress-harbo did too- actually the gov was sick so it was her deputy or someone...Steph (shes nathan andersons cousin, yes she gets payed out alot about that11) did the guide adress part of it at the cross for the korean war...and so i dragged her along with me..it was sooo awkward!! we ended up talking to the state superintendant of st john..dr ray greig..you may remember him from such ads as the safe driving on our roads(hes the dude in the green jumpsuit) but then steph and i got bored and ran away..hehehe..later on we ended up having a hmm discussion with the scoutees who were all 'so do you guys sell cookies and knit?' and we said yes we do sell cookies but no we dont knit..then we were paying them out and they payed us out some more and blah blah blah then kazza and i went off to get maccas where sho should we meet but some goths and one who used to go to merc college..i think her name is stephanie or something but she was a yr 11..now she goes to TAFE..LOL!! so we gave them some of our food because we weren't actually hungry...they were pleased...you know how when the food is free you get more...
anyhoo then we all went home at midnight..unfortunately karens car was locked in the carpark so we had to wait for her dad to pick us up...

me and steph..yes im a marshall!!

steph stuffing her face with the free maccas!!

ah the magic of cling wrap!

one of the many talents of karen
and then i went home and then got up at 5 and picked up rach and we did the dawn service with johnnies...rach and i had to stand there with these four widows who were representing some org or another but we were there to exercise our skills in premier secours and help them up the steps and all...dang! i was on tv..all of the channels but noone saw it..no one in my family even watched nor recorded the dawn service!!grrr!!lazy buggers sleeping!! anywell we were standing there and some guy in the crowd shouts medic! we need a medic! hehehe well thats me so i went behind the line and followed this guy to this old codger who had collapsed..his wife was so confused..she told me he had terminally low blood pressure and sufferers from small series of strokes..so i did the ol first aid routine and stable side blah blah then then my peeps..t\other johnnies who were at the vigil to do first aid, unlike me and rach, we were just ceremonial..lol! so then i returned to the old ladies and rachel after i did a hand over...then the service began and the wreath laying and blah blah later we wandered around town and then met up with mrs curtis, mrs dansie, tammy and tim..he is everywhere!! im starting too see him every weekend or so!!! anywell then we had some breakfast chez macdo and we sat on some random bench in the middle of rundle mall and payed out the highly uniformed air youth, airtc's and red berets!! then timmer tells us he used to be a memeber of the anal air training corps!!lol!! then the other kiddies were part of the march but once again rache and i were ceremonial so we headed down to the cross of sacrifice and wandered around for an hour or so and watched the march for a bit until some people just stood in front of us!!blatant disregard!!but we payed out my dad in his ice cream suit!!white doesnt look good on people with beer bellies!!LOL! and then we beaan handing out programs for the service..calling people sir and ma'am..old people dig it yo...then we buggered off and i went to lunch with ma famille et the faaaaa or fleet air arm association..if you dont know(i dont know why you would) my dad is the president of this fine association...anywell nice food...mmm...
merde!i cant believe how much i wrote!!!if only i could write that much for world lit!!
